Applied Suicide Intervention Training

 

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a comprehensive, evidence-based, two-day course designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to help someone in crisis. Through a combination of audiovisuals, interactive discussions, and guided simulations, ASIST participants learn how to recognize signs of suicide, provide a skilled intervention, and develop a safety plan that promotes immediate and longer-term safety. The course is ideal for those who want to make a direct impact in their community by learning how to respond to individuals experiencing thoughts of suicide.

What You’ll Learn:

Identifying Warning Signs: Recognize signs of potential suicide risk and identify when intervention is needed.

Providing Skilled Intervention: Learn the ASIST framework, a structured approach to engage with someone in crisis compassionately, focusing on their needs and perspectives.

Creating a Safety Plan: Develop a personalized safety plan that supports the individual in choosing to stay alive by fostering immediate and long-term safety and connection.

Understanding Safe Approaches to Intervention: Gain knowledge of safe, ethical practices to ensure intervention is effective and supportive, aligning with LivingWorks standards.
