Frequently Asked Questions

Carleton University students experiencing food insecurity are eligible for the Emergency Essentials Assistance Program. Please note that we only provide services to active students.

To request a hamper, students must create a profile, upload the required documents and complete the Intake Form. It is recommended to submit your request 36 to 72 hours before your desired pickup time to ensure an up-to-date item selection.

You can log into your profile and select the “Submissions” tab to view any active requests.

No, hampers must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day pickup is not available.

You can pick up your hamper from 132 Nideyinàn during the USC’s operational hours. Please have your Student Campus Card and note that hampers will not be available before your scheduled time.

There are several status that you can see on your hamper submission profile:

  • The pending status is an automatic status that is given to your request. It means that your hamper has not been made yet but your submission has been processed and we have received it. If your status is still pending on your pickup day, please come to our office at your scheduled time.
  • The pending cold items status means that your hamper is ready to be picked up at your scheduled time and date. This does not mean that you can show up a day earlier for your hamper.
  • The completed status means that you have picked up your hamper. If you have two completed hampers for the current month, your account will automatically be locked until the following month.

Without a valid Carleton University Student ID card, you will not be able to pick up your hamper. We strictly adhere to this policy to ensure that our services are reserved for Carleton University students.

Students are eligible to request up to two hampers per month. If additional assistance is needed, students can reach out to over email with the subject line “Request for Enhanced Assistance”. Note, Enhanced Assistance is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will require demonstration of substantial needs.

Yes, the Emergency Essentials Assistance Program is completely free for Carleton University students.
