The Unified Support Centre’s services thrive thanks to the dedication of our volunteer team. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to support fellow students, gain valuable experience, and become part of a vibrant community, we’d love for you to join us!

Why Volunteer with the USC?

Volunteers are at the heart of our mission, and we ensure you feel valued and supported. As a USC Volunteer, you’ll benefit from:

  • Discounted or free training courses on valuable skills, including some that are exclusive to USC volunteers
  • Volunteer appreciation events to celebrate your impact and connect with fellow volunteers
  • Monthly prizes for a little extra motivation and fun!

We offer a range of shifts that work well with busy schedules. During the academic year, you can volunteer:

  • Monday to Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM and 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM
  • Saturday to Sunday: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM and 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM

In the summer, shifts are:

  • Monday to Saturday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Sunday: Closed

Volunteers are asked to commit to one recurring four-hour shift each week. You’re also welcome to help out more if your schedule allows!

The Unified Support Centre (USC) is a volunteer-based space consisting of the Food Centre service cluster, providing on-campus food support and advocacy, and the Foot Patrol service cluster, offering evening-focused safety related supports. The USC strives to offer direct, timely, and substantive support to the Carleton community.

All volunteers are required to obtain a Police Record Check in the Vulnerable Sector (Level 3), submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19, and attend a USC training session prior to their first shift. We reimburse applicants for the $20 police record check cost!

We look forward to supporting you through the application process! After you submit the form, Laura, the USC Volunteer Coordinator, will reach out to schedule a quick meeting to answer any questions you might have.
